Onyx Sand™ is a specially fracted, stable porous clay substrate for the natural planted aquarium. Its appearance is best suited to planted aquaria, but may be used in any aquarium environment. Being Carbonate rich it provides an advantage to any plants able to utilise bicarbonates. It is most effective when used alone as an integral substrate bed, but it may be mixed with other gravels. Gravel modifiers such as laterite are not necessary and as it is not chemically coated or treated, it will not alter the pH of the water.
Although pre-washed, it may be rinsed before use to remove residual dust. Dust can also be minimized by filling aquarium slowly and dispersing water so that the Onyx Sand™ bed is not disturbed. Slight initial cloudiness is normal and will clear rapidly (2–12 hours).

The use of either CO2 injection or Flourish Excel™ does not necessarily negate the use of the other. Because the processes of producing photosynthetic intermediates and building onto them occur simultaneously, one can derive a substantial benefit with the use of Flourish Excel™ either alone or in conjunction with CO2 . The combination is particularly ideal for situations when continuing to add CO2 could result in dangerously low pH levels. Flourish Excel™ also has iron reducing properties which promote the ferrous state of iron (Fe+2), which is more easily utilized by plants than ferric iron (Fe+3).

Why It’s Different
The reason plants need CO2 is to produce longer chain carbon compounds also known as photosynthetic intermediates. Photosynthetic intermediates includes compounds such as ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate, and 2-carboxy-3-keto-D-arabinitol 1,5 bisphosphate. Although the names are complicated, the structures are quite simple (5 carbon chains). Flourish Excel™ does not contain these specific compounds per se, but one that is quite similar. By dosing with Flourish Excel™ you bypass the involvement of CO2 and introduce the already finished, structurally similar compounds. It is in its structural similarity that Flourish Excel™ is able to be utilized in the carbon chain building process of photosynthesis. Simple chemical or enzymatic steps can easily convert it to any one to any one of the above named compounds (or a variety of others).

Dose :-
On initial use or after a major (> 40%) water change, use 1 capful (5 mL) for every 40 L (10 gallons*). Thereafter use 1 capful for every 200 L (50 gallons*) daily or every other day. Dosing may be slowly increased in high-growth aquariums. For smaller dosing please note that each cap thread is approximately 1 mL.

Easy-Life Ferro provides iron (Fe II) in a highly concentrated form.
It also contains supporting nutrients such as potassium.
Yellowing of leaves (chlorosis) is a possible sign of  iron defficiency.

Potassium (K) is a macro nutrient – essential for healthy plant growth. Easy-Life Kalium provides this in a highly concentrated form.
Other macro nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous can occur naturally in an aquarium but potassium does not. It is therefore important to add it to the tank – particularly to well planted tanks with plenty of light.
Easy-Life Kalium also promotes the absorption and take up of other nutrients and trace elements by the plants.

Kalium is nitrate and phosphate free.

Advantages of Kalium : -

Dosage : -

Kalium is very economical : 1 ml per 10 litres of aquarium water will increase the level of potassium (K) by 4 ppm (ppm = mg/l)
In most cases this is a sufficient weekly dose.

Phosphorous (P) is a macro nutrient – essential for healthy plant growth. Phosphorous is taken up by plants in the form of phosphates and Easy-Life Fosfo provides this in a highly concentrated form.
It used to be believed that algae in a tank was the result of too much phosphate and nitrate. However new views tell us that it is precisley the opposite and levels of phosphate, nitrogen and carbon which are too low result in unhealthy plants which allows algae to flourish.
A certain ammount of phophate will occur in a tank – from excess fish food for example – but in a well planted tank with good light levels or in a tank with only a few fish it is unlikely that there will be sufficient and Fosfo can be used to increase the levels.

Fosfo is nitrate free.

Advantages of Fosfo:

• a highly concentrated and complete source of phosphorous
• can be used in conjunction with other Easy Life products
• nitrate free
• ecconomical
• easy to use, no mixing

Dosage :-

Fosfo is very economical : 1 ml per 50 litres of aquarium water will increase the level of phosphorous (P) by 0.033ppm (P2O5 by 0.075ppm, PO4 by 0.1ppm)

Nitrogen (N) is a macro nutrient – essential for healthy plant growth Nitrogen is taken up by plants in the form of nitrate (NO3) and Easy-Life Nitro provides this in a highly concentrated form. Easy-Life Nitro also contains potassium (K) which is another macro nutrient

It used to be believed that nitrates and phosphates resulted in the growth of algae. However new views tell us that this is not true and that when levels of phosphate, nitrogen and carbon  are too low the result is unhealthy plants which allows algae to flourish.

A certain ammount of nitrate will occur in a tank – from fish excrement for example – but in a well planted tank with good light levels or in a tank with only a few fish it is unlikely that there will be sufficient and Nitro can be used to increase the levels.

Dosage :-

Nitro is very economical : 1 ml per 50 litres of aquarium water will increase the level of  nitrogen (N) by 0.45 ppm (NO3 by 2ppm) It will increase the level of potassium (K) by 1.3 ppm. (K2O by 1.6 ppm)

Easy-Life ProFito is a highly concentrated universal plant fertiliser that is suitable for all water plants. After much internal and external testing the formula of this product proved to be the best with regard to the rate of growth, the formation of leaves and the recovery of leaves which had holes or were discoloured (mostly due to mineral deficiency). ProFito contains dozens of different ingredients. This compilation guarantees strong, healthy and lush plant growth. The use of ProFito makes the addition of extra iron or potassium fertilisers mostly unnecessary. In nearly all cases this also applies to heavily planted tanks. So ProFito really is a universal fertiliser. It makes the use of other liquid fertilisers unnecessary. ProFito contains all that is needed.

Plants need large amounts of certain nutrients – especially iron, potassium and magnesium.These are present in high concentrations in ProFito. Moreover ProFito contains many additional ‘micronutrients’ such as manganese, boron, cobalt, lithium, molybdenum, copper, tin, nickel, fluorine, iodine, aluminium, zinc, selenium and vanadium. These substances in combination with a number of rare minerals give the plants just what they need to grow easily. The plants are stimulated to form cytokinines (plant hormones) in greater quantities so that cell division occurs more rapidly. Leaves grow bigger and wider, and they also show more intensive colouration.

The strong and vigorous growth resulting from the use of ProFito encourages the plants to take up unwanted substances from the aquarium – nitrates, phosphate and ammonia compounds are removed more quickly. Thus the use of ProFito will improve the water quality.

Moreover it improves and maintains a better biological balance in the aquarium.

ProFito does not contain nitrate or phosphate. The nutrients in ProFito are stabilized by various chelating agents. An anti-oxidant and a preservative prevent the deterioration of the product to ensure a long shelf life.

Advantages of ProFito :-

• makes the extra addition of iron or potassium almost always superfluous

Dosage :-

ProFito is very economical : Typically 1 ml per 10 litres of aquarium water per week in total. This can be added in daily increments if required

Start the first couple of weeks at about 1/3 of the above dosage and then adjust to attain the best possible growth rate. The best dosage can be determined by observing the youngest leaves of the plant. If they are light green, then the dosage can be increased. If increasing the dose fails to result in an improved growth or if algae starts to occur, then reduce the dose.

The introduction of some fast-growing plants can be very helpful in preventing algae.

Easy-Life Easycarbo

Plants contain chlorophyll which absorbs light. The light energy converts carbon, hydrogen and oxygen into sugars, starches and cellulose. These are called carbohydrates and this is how plants store the energy derived from light. The process is called photosynthesis.

Oxygen (O), carbon (C), and hydrogen (H) are obtained from water (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2). These are absorbed by the plant through the roots and through the leaves.

Although a certain amount of CO2 will occur naturally in an aquarium there will be insufficient to provide a well lit and well planted tank with enough for the plants to thrive.

CO2 can be injected into the water by means of a diffuser but a considerable amount of investment is required – CO2 cylinder, pressure reducing valve, solenoid valves etc,

It’s an ideal source of carbon – without the expense of CO2 hardware.

It’s a very powerful and effective source of carbon for aquarium plants. It can be used in aquariums with or without supplementary CO2 injection. A marked improvement in growth can be seen after only a few weeks.

It will also enable plants to compete better with algae which will then reduce.

Dose:-
1ml per 50 litres per day. ½ ml per 50 litres per day for lightly planted tanks, maximum 2ml per 50 litres per day for densely planted tanks.

Use:-
It also gives excellent results when used in conjunction with Profito – universal fertiliser.
